THE BESPOKE PROCESS
Starting the custom process with us is an exciting journey tailored to bring your unique vision to life. Throughout this multiple-step process, our founder Kate March guides you through every step of the way in creating your custom 1 of a kind garment.
-
The Inquiry Form
The first step is to fill out our inquiry form, which can be found here.
Someone from our team will reach out to you 24-48 hours after submitting the form to schedule a 1 on 1 virtual consultation so we can chat more about what you are looking for.
-
Consultation Call
On this call, we will walk you through the steps of our custom process, chat through budget inquiries, and your preferred timeline. During this conversation, we will guide you through a variety of creative questions allowing us to learn more about your personal style and guide you through the next step: your custom sketches deck.
-
Sketch Review
About a week or two after your consultation, we will hop on another call with you to talk over your sketches. This will be a live process where you will walk through any edits you want to make, be it from (edit) to (edit), with our designer Kate March.
Upon confirmation of your custom sketch, we invite you into our showroom in Chelsea, Manhattan to view your custom-curated fabric deck and take your full body measurements to ensure a perfect fit. For out-of-state clients we offer this first meeting virtually with our tailors nearest to you across the U.S., and a virtual consultation of your fabric deck, which is shipped to your doorstep.
-
Muslin Fitting & Fabric Exploration
Once a sketch is agreed upon, we start on your muslin! Our production team will create a prototype of your garment. This allows us to perfect how the piece will fit on your body prior to stepping into your final fabric. All fittings are hosted at our showroom in Chelsea, Manhattan. However, house calls are available upon request. In this fitting, we will try on your muslin to perfect all of the technical details to ensure a perfect mold of your garment. If you are not located in New York, don’t worry we did not forget about you! We offer the option to ship your muslin to you along with fabric swatches. We will conduct a virtual fitting with you and one of our tailors across the U.S. to make sure all your questions and concerns are addressed!
-
Final Fitting(s)
The final steps of your custom experience are transformative. We start with fittings in your final fabric to assess the overall piece. Unlike most custom processes, any and all alterations are inclusive of your experience. In these final fittings, we will talk through all the small details like confirming lengths due to your shoe height, adding a touch of sentimental personalization, and the list goes on. Once all of these edits are made, you can finally take home your one-of-a-kind custom garment for your special occasion.

Meet KATE
UNDONE FOUNDER & DESIGNER
Amid the challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kate March, the founder and Designer of Undone by Kate, underwent a transformative journey that led to the creation of a unique and thriving brand. Previously, Kate worked as celebrity stylist assistant to some of your favorite A-listers, while also taking on her own roster of styling clientele. Kate found herself furloughed during the pandemic, facing a sudden shift in her professional trajectory. During the lockdown, Kate discovered solace and inspiration behind a sewing machine. This period became not only a means of coping with the challenges brought about by the pandemic but also a canvas for her burgeoning creativity. Driven by a newfound dedication, Kate began upcycling vintage goods, breathing new life into pre-loved items and transforming them into distinctive pieces of fashion.
Out of this passion and determination, Undone by Kate was born. Kate's vision extended beyond conventional fashion; it embraced the ethos of sustainability, craftsmanship, and individuality behind one-of-a-kind garments. Each creation became a testament to her commitment to both the environment and the artistry of fashion. Bridging the gap between her work in celebrity styling, to designing for those very same celebrity clients, Kate has organically merged the styling and designing process to provide her customers with the utmost personal, one-of-a-kind experience.
Undeterred by the uncertainties of the times, the brand steadily gained momentum. Her unique designs resonated with a growing audience appreciative of one-of-a kind fashion and the story behind each piece.
Today, Undone by Kate has one mission: making the wearer of each art piece feel confident, beautiful, and powerful in each piece made. Undone not only reflects Kate's journey through the challenges of the pandemic but also embodies a commitment to sustainable practices and the art of upcycling. The brand's success is not just in its products but in the story of adaptation, growth, and the pursuit of a creative vision in the face of adversity.

FAQS
-
All of our pieces are labeled made to order. This means that your piece goes into production once you make your purchase. This process is key to helping our sustainability efforts as it completely eliminates overproduction at Undone by Kate. It is important to note that because of this, there will be a longer production time. Once an order is placed, it will take 2-4 weeks to arrive at your doorstep.
